The English Enhancement Program, (EEP) for short, is a program of communicative English language courses which teach the ability to deal with everyday written and spoken English. The programme focuses on all four communication skills — Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking -enabling students to increase their confidence in using English in everyday situations. There are 5 levels available for 2016-2017, Level 1 beginner, Level 2 Basic, Level 3 intermediate, Level 4 advanced Level 5 IELTS. The levels are each taught over 6 weeks for 20 hours a week and use Cambridge English course materials and text books. They are taught by an Associate Professor of the University who has over 20 years of experience teaching English.
The EEP Programme uses the Cambridge Unlock course materials. Unlock is a four-level academic skills course that combines thought-provoking video from Discovery Education™ with carefully scaffolded exercises and a fresh approach to critical thinking skills. Unlock Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking Skills provides 120 hours of class time at each level. Critical Thinking sections give students frameworks to formulate their own opinions and express themselves effectively in the end-of-unit academic tasks. Unique research into common learner errors (using the Cambridge English Corpus) focuses the language used in Unlock on those areas learners find most challenging. Videos from Discovery Education™ (accessible via the Cambridge Learning Management System and supplied on the Teacher's Book DVD) provide new angles on a range of academic subjects. The final level of the course is designed to prepare student for the IELTS test. It covers essential exam skills and language for IELTS in approximately 120 hours of teaching time, and familiarises students quickly with the exam. The course provides students with invaluable advice on how to maximise their band score in the exam.
