Cabinet Member and Minister of Tolerance, H.E Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the University in recognition of his positive contribution to multiculturalism and social cohesion in the United Arab Emirates. As Minister of Tolerance, H.E Sheikh Nahayan is a firm supporter of the various cultures, traditions and religious communities in the UAE. He inspires citizens to share their experiences and practices, in turn creating a prosperous country that thrives on tolerance and equality for all.
During the ceremony H.E Sheikh Nahayan said, “This class is graduating in the Year of Tolerance. As new university graduates, it is your generation that must take up the banner of peace, human fraternity and preservation of human dignity and protection of our global environment. Together, we must reaffirm our conviction that we all exist in an inter-dependent world. We must all get to know one another, to engage in useful dialogue, and to work together to create and preserve a world order that promotes peace, hope, understanding, tolerance, stability, cooperation and prosperity.”
Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) Director General, Dr. Abdulla Al Karam and Vice Chairperson & Managing Director of the Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group (ESAG), Dr. Raja Easa Al Gurg attended the ceremony that saw over 500 graduate and postgraduate students receive their degrees from a range of programmes including MBA, Business Administration, Engineering, Forensic Sciences, Applied Psychology, Architecture and Nanotechnology.
All Round Performers were recognised for their commitment to the University and community whilst also displaying personal and professional growth. Students that displayed excellent human values were honoured, and medals were given to students that achieved academic excellence.
