Team Baitykool consisting of students from Amity University Dubai, University of Bordeaux and Al Najah University built a sustainable eco-friendly house of the future for the Solar Decathlon Middle East. Over the course of the month-long competition, the team won 1st place in the categories of Energy Efficiency, Sustainability and Energy Panel Systems, 2nd place for Architecture and 3rd place for Construction Design. Team Baitykool also came in 3rd place at the final award ceremony for the Solar Decathlon Middle East 2018.
Clothing from waste with a taste, Faste is an annual initiative by the faculty and students of the Fashion Design Department aimed at bringing sutainable fashion and glamour to the forefront. Students from several semesters come together to showcase their innovative designs created with waste material.
Amity University Dubai recently signed an MoU with arcab in order to support the student start-up venture that was ideated, created and built under the guidance of the team at the Incubation Centre. Arcab is a mobility service that helps commuters on a daily basis to get from point A to point B by reducing the gap between expensive private transport and crowded public transport. They aim to achieve this through optimised routes, affordable transits and a comfotable journey in premium vans with free Wifi on board. With the arcab app, users can track their vans in real time and set reminders.
Amity University Dubai and Mom's Belief teamed up for a free workshop o the importance of mental health. A panel of clinical leaders from Mom's Belief discussed how to overcome developmental disorders, behavioural problems, anxiety and depression in teens and children. The two-day workshop that was open to parents, university students and faculty from the UAE, focused on learning from experts in the field and getting guidance on how to deal with behaviour problems in children.
3 of the 28 student teams across the UAE that have secured Expo Live's backing as part of the University Innovation Programme's second cycle, are from Amity University Dubai. Each successful project receives grants of up to AED 50,000, along with the guidance and exposure the teams need to take their business ideas to the next level and make an impact within the region while also addressing potential global challenges.
