My life as a Business student at Amity University Dubai

Choosing a career in business has always been my goal, and as I neared the end of my schooling, my passion for accountancy grew immensely.  That is why I decided to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting at Amity University Dubai.  What made this choice even more appealing was receiving a 100% scholarship for my first year.  It was a dream come true, propelling me further along my chosen career path.

During my time at Amity University Dubai, I have had some incredible experiences that have shaped me personally and professionally.  One notable achievement was being a part of the discipline committee for the Amity Cognizance Forum 2021, for which I received a certificate.  This role gave me an understanding of event management and its crucial role in ensuring a successful outcome.

Another highlight was winning second place in a group app development competition organised by ZYWA Co.  My team and I generated innovative ideas for an app that could improve financial literacy and boost the UAE's economy.  

Volunteering at Global Education & Training Exhibition (GETEX) in February 2021 was a remarkable experience.  It was my first time volunteering, and it allowed me to meet new people, including faculty members, and expand my network.  The event taught me the importance of networking and building connections whenever possible.

Participating in a group case study competition in December 2021 provided insights into the real-world business environment.  Winning second place in this competition, which focused on a day in the life of a consultant, reinforced the importance of striving for excellence and giving my all in everything I do.  The skills I acquired during this competition will undoubtedly shape my future career.

Stepping out of my comfort zone, I joined the Women's Cricket Team and achieved second place in a group inter-university sports competition held at Manipal University Dubai.  Despite having no prior sports experience, I was inspired by the passion displayed by my fellow students.  Taking up a sport taught me the value of hard work and dedication, and it helped me realise that academics alone are not everything – doing what you love is equally important.  I am incredibly proud to have been part of the formation of the Amity Women's Cricket Team.

Opting to be a class representative stands out as the most memorable moment of my journey at Amity University Dubai.  Despite my usual hesitation to take on roles that demand significant effort and dedication, I wanted to challenge myself and be the change I wished to see.  Taking the initiative and putting myself out there proved to be an immensely rewarding experience.

My university journey has been filled with memorable experiences, from forming friendships with individuals of varying personalities to joining the Bollywood dance club, indulging in something I genuinely enjoy.  These experiences allowed me to explore new interests and seize opportunities for personal growth.

Volunteering remains a priority for me, and I eagerly participate in volunteer activities within the university, whether it's supporting business events or engaging in sports events.

After graduation, I plan to obtain an accounting qualification such as CIMA, CMA, ACCA, or ICAEW ACA.  With this qualification, I plan to seek employment in reputable companies within the field of accountancy and finance.  While I initially intend to work in the UAE, I am open to exploring international opportunities after gaining valuable work experience.

I aim to work for one of the renowned Big 4 accounting firms – Deloitte, Ernst & Young, PwC, or KPMG.  With the guidance and support of my professors, who have always pushed me to do my best, I feel confident that I can achieve my goals.
