ID609 Eco Friendly and Sustainable Design
This course will provide methodical way of design to minimize the impact of buildings on the environment. This course will help in implementing sustainable practices in the way a space in designed can impact reduction in carbon footprint and keep excess pollution out of our air, water and landfills. The primary focus on eco-friendly design is to improve indoor air quality and reduce the impact that major purchase can have on the environment. This course will help in the design of home with environmental friendly interior design that will set a positive precedent, expanding out to the larger world.
ID616 3D Computer Application (Simulation & Modeling)
This course will provide the awareness of skills & technical knowledge of the three dimensional modeling of building interiors. This will include all rendering & presentation techniques & understanding 3D simulation & modeling. The students will be able to produce the designed interiors in 3D views with special effects & rendering. This course will introduce the various techniques for rendering & texturing, including the application of rendering & textures in plans, elevations & 3-D Views including 3 -D modeling and their modular forms.
ID620 Advanced Interior Design Studio I
This course provides understanding of development of interior spaces from conceptual stage to final design resolutions. This course will include Literature Study & Case study with reference to standard data considering the various design systems & processes- heritage interior, adaptive reuse, green interior etc. This course will introduce various concepts & notions in the field of interior design with respect to various cultural, technological, regional and societal impacts on the forms of expression of design, with the help of select examples & projects. The students will be systematically guided to develop a conceptual proposal of designing any interior or exterior space by applying the theoretical concepts with emphasis on development of an appropriate scale interior/exterior environment through theory, research, analysis, conceptualization and design.
ID629 Advanced Interiors Materials & Construction Techniques I
This course will familiarize the students with the advanced study of interior materials, their characteristics and installations. The course will cover linear metal ceilings, decorative suspended ceilings, integrated ceilings, abuse resistant ceilings; and special doors with door seals to the hardware lock functions.
ID630 Advanced Interior Design Studio II (Workshop)
This course will enable students to understand, as designer of the built environment, the societal perspective with respect to the principles of sustainability. The emphasis is on exploring design systems that promote efficient use of material resources for adaptive reuse and energy efficient interiors. Understanding role of awareness and attitude to environmental concerns with focus on strategies for sustainable interiors, energy efficient interiors and adaptive reuse of interiors. The intent of this course is to explore interior design as a tool to act within sites of rich cultural significance and also to understand the performance of building components that impact building energy efficiency. Various approaches to safeguard and conserve interiors for sustainable and adaptive reuse and for creating energy-efficient inside spaces are introduced. Students will be required to present comprehensive design solutions of the proposed concept that clearly highlights the design strategy, spatial planning, material application, technological details and services integration in relation to the principles of sustainability and energy efficiency.
ID636 Advanced Interior Material & Construction Techniques-II
This course will acquaint students with advanced design and detailing process of internal finishes like cabinetry. The emphasis is on demonstrating knowledge pertaining to interior construction and services w.r.t building norms and safety codes. The student will be conversant with basics of cabinetry systems, flooring and services required for interior construction detailing, further understanding non-structural systems in interior with focus on cabinet and paneling work. The students will conduct field survey and understand interior construction and its interrelationship with base building construction and systems; through the integrated knowledge on product, furnishings, material and the design intervention with the required services in the interiors.
ID619 Interior Acoustics (PG)
This course will provide an understanding of theory & application of acoustics in interior design. The course will further look into the importance of acoustics in creation of the interior spaces & knowledge of its detailing. The course will help in applying all principal of design acoustics for recreational, commercial and social interiors.
ID626 Vastu Shastra and Feng Shui (PG)
This course will provide an introduction to the ancient principles of Vastu Shastra and also the Chinese concept of Feng Shui in order to bring in a deeper sense of contentment, prosperity & wellbeing in all aspects of life & structural surroundings. The course will help in applying fundamentals and principals of Vastu Shastra & Feng Shui in interiors for contentment, prosperity and well-being of human beings. The course will include design project solutions with knowledge gained through research of theoretical and practical concepts and communicate developed ideas through written, oral and graphic forms.
ID627 Traditional and Contemporary Furniture Design
This course will provide a thorough knowledge of product design whether ethnic, classical or contemporary. This course will give insight to the world of globalization with reference to custom-made furniture, detailing of furniture study of materials and cabinetry & joinery. The course will include the design and selection of ethnic, classical or contemporary furniture required for different types of interiors.
ID628 Energy Efficient & Intelligent Interiors (E&I)
This course will provide the method of design that minimizes the impact of buildings on the environment. The course will include eco-friendly, energy efficient and sustainable buildings where land use involving site selection, building orientation (passive solar design), and climatology will be covered. The course will further cover building envelope, energy efficiency and interior ecology.
ID618 Computer Applications - Project Management
This course will introduce the latest software in project management. The course will provide the awareness in understanding the management skills, execution & handling of interior projects. The course will enable the student in the working of the software for all stages of Project management.
