Dr. Awatef Ouertani is a biochemistry researcher and academic with expertise in antimicrobial peptides, microbial biotechnology, and bioactive compounds from natural resources. She completed her PhD in Biological Sciences from the Faculty of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences of Tunis.

Dr. Ouertani has several years of teaching experience in structural and metabolic biochemistry, enzymology, coenzymes, vitamins, and enzyme applications at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Her research focuses on the discovery and characterization of antimicrobial peptides, microbial bioactive molecules, and structure–function analysis using bioinformatics and molecular approaches.

She has published multiple peer-reviewed research articles in international journals and actively participates in international scientific conferences in the field of biotechnology and microbiology.
