Dr. Waqas Ahmad is an Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering at Amity University Dubai. He holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the American University of Sharjah. His research focuses on sustainable materials, thermo-chemical conversion of waste, biochar-based resource recovery, carbon sequestration, and environmental/materials characterization using advanced analytical techniques such as SEM/EDS, GC-MS, TGA, and ICP-AES.
Dr. Ahmad has an interdisciplinary research profile at the interface of materials science, energy systems, and environmental engineering, supported by several peer-reviewed publications in reputed international journals. His work has been recognized through awards, including the Green Food Innovation Award (Gulfood 2024).
He has extensive teaching and laboratory experience, delivering courses such as Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Engineering Materials, and Basic Mechanics. He is actively involved in student mentoring, research supervision, and curriculum development. His current focus is on developing innovative, sustainable engineering solutions aligned with circular economy and climate resilience goals.
