Dr. Shabir Hakim is an Assistant Professor of Finance at Amity School of Business, having joined the faculty in September 2021. He has a PhD in Business Administration, specialising in finance, from International Islamic University Malaysia and an MBA with a concentration in Finance and Marketing from Western Michigan University, USA. He has won several national and international awards for his academic achievements, including the Best PhD award.  

He has taught finance courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels for around ten years at universities in Saudi Arabia, UAE, and India. His pedagogical approaches are student-centric, customized to the nature and level of the courses that range from concept and knowledge building to the application of classroom learnings to the real-world situations with objective of preparing students for next academic levels and professional certifications.

His research has been published in ABS- and Scopus indexed journals, and he has presented his work at significant finance conferences, including the World Finance Conference and the Asian Finance Conference.  

Dr. Hakim is a member of several professional bodies, including the American Finance Association and the Financial Management Association (FMA) International.
