On October 4, 2024, the Sustainability in Practice (SiP) Committee of the School of Engineering, Architecture & Interior Design at Amity University Dubai hosted a compelling Leadership Masterclass titled “Fireside Chat with Main Canaan, Career and Sustainability.” The session featured Mr. Main Canaan, Regional General Manager of GE Aviation, who shared insights from his impressive three-decade career in the aviation industry.
Mr. Canaan, a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, has held various leadership roles at GE Aviation since 2000, focusing on sales, engineering, and customer and product support. He emphasised the significance of both technical and emotional intelligence in effective leadership. During his talk, he encouraged students to embrace teamwork, think creatively, and foster emotional connections within organisations.Additionally, Mr. Canaan participated in the EAID Industry Leadership Meeting, where he highlighted the essential skills required for engineering graduates.
Dr. Sathish Kannan, Dean of EAID, presented a token of appreciation to Mr. Canaan, joined by the SiP Committee team and faculty members. This event underscored Amity's commitment to nurturing future leaders in sustainable engineering.
